PS - Is it really AUGUST tomorrow?!?!

"Welcome" Banner - Owl Theme

Well, I'm still on my owl theme kick and was thinking of what else I needed to decorate my classroom. I already have a welcome banner, but I wanted it to correlate with everything else in my room so I went ahead and created a few. I made them in two different fonts, because Pineapple Express (my favorite) is not ideal for primary grades. I will continue to work on a few more colors. As of right now I have green/pink, blue, and yellow/pink available at my TpT store! I hope you enjoy them!

I LOVE PINTEREST!

I love Pinterest!! There are so many wonderful ideas and resources that I can use to better my teaching, my home, and even my marriage! I have so many pins on my For The Classroom board that I wanted to organize them into a binder so I can have them as a reference during the school year. Plus, I love having hard copies of everything! All I did was copy the pictures from my Pinterest board along with a description and pasted them into Microsoft Word. I managed to get them all into categories and put headings on top of each page. Lastly, I inserted the pages into page protectors and put into a binder. I love it and can't wait to use it in the fall!

Free Substitute Binder Printables

My goal this year is to become more organized. So I thought putting together a substitute binder (with an owl theme, of course!) would be a great start! There are page dividers/headers based on category included in the set along with a "while you were out" and "important information" page. There are three different styles: regular, glass effect, and plastic wrap effect. Hopefully this can help you become more organized, too! Just click on the blue link above or visit my TpT store to download!

Owl Themed Classroom Pack

After hours, I've finally put together an Owl Themed Classroom Pack! This includes name tags, locker tags, labels, A-Z letters, and number 1-100 in three different themes. Just click the link above or visit my TpT store to purchase!

Owl Name Tags Part 2

Here's my next batch of Owl Name Tags. I think I will use these for the students desks which will match the subject labels I've created. I did make another set of name tags that I think I will use for student lockers. Check out my TpT store to see all of my products!

Beginning of the Year - Get to know you games

I came across Sugardoodle's Webpage and saw these awesome beginning of the year, get-to-know-you games! These are so fun, and I can wait to use them on the first days of school. I love the silent interview game. It is similar to charades where a student has to tell their partner three things about themselves.. silently = no sounds, mouthing words, or making noises! Once the pair is done, they announce verbally to the class what they learned about their partner and see if they were correct! So cute!

This is a great resource with so many more games! You should definitely check it out!

--------------- From Sugardoodle's Webpage -------------------

Silent Interviews

Description

  1. Divide the group into pairs - try to make mix the group into pairs of folks who don't know each other well.

  2. Ask the participants to introduce themselves to their partner.

  3. Instruct the group that from this point forward, speaking is not allowed. This includes whispering, mouthing words, and making sounds, too!

  4. Inform the group that they must tell their partner 3 things about themselves without speaking, similar to a charades game. These things can not be physical characteristics.

  5. Once all of the partners have finished miming to each other, call everyone back into a circle.

  6. Ask for each pair to verbally introduce their partner to the group, as well as the three things that they learned (or think they learned).

If you are working with very young children, you can do this as a group activity, where one child acts out a hobby for the group to guess.

Owl Themed Name Tags

So I've recently fallen in love with the cute owls I see everywhere. I decided to make some name tags that the students can write their names in to place on their lockers. These could also be used for desks, folders, notebooks, labels, etc. They are very colorful which is exactly what I love! Just print, cut out, and laminate! Visit my TpT store for a free download! Enjoy!

Objective Frames

This summer apparently is all about Pinterest for me! There are so many great ideas out there! This is yet another one. I pinned it from Katrina Harper but I'm not sure if she's the original pinner... but, thanks! I usually just write the names of the subjects on the board and write the Lesson Essential Question for the day, but I thought this looked a lot cuter.. I am also hoping that it will draw the students' eyes to it more.
I started off by going to the Dollar Tree and bought 6 $1.00 frames...can't beat that! Next, I chose 6 pieces of scrapbooking paper to use. Now, these frames will be used to write on with dry erase markers, so I wouldn't pick a print that is too busy.I cut the paper to fit in the frame.
I saw that the original pinned just wrote the subject names on the frame. I wanted to make it more permanent, so I used my Cricut to cut out the letters I'd need for: Lesson essential questions, reading, writing, math, social studies, and grammar.
Once I had all of my letters, I used a sticker machine to make my letters sticky. You could also use glue or tape, but this was much easier. Plus I'd had this sticker machine for 2 years and hadn't even taken it out of the box!
The last step was putting the letters on the scrapbooking paper and reessembling the frames! I am going to use the 3M photo strips to attach these to my white board. You could also hang them on the wall or use magnets! I'm excited to get these up! I will post a picture in the fall of them on my board and give feedback to whether I like them or not!

Wanted Board

Even though it's not for my classroom, I thought I'd add it. I also got this idea from Pinterest and it's similar to the no name board for my classroom! The original idea came form The house of Smiths.
These are the supplies you will need. I spray painted the board silver even though I was going to put scrapbooking paper on top.
Next, I put mod podge on the board, placed the scrapbooking paper over top and then put another layer on top of the paper. Let it dry completely.
I mixed pod podge and silver glitter. I painted a layer on the front of the clothespins to make them stand out a little.
Next, I hot glued the letters and clothespins on the board.
I used the 3M photo strips to attach the board to the wall. They are easy to remove!

And here's the end result! Hopefully it will help us to keep track of all those "wandering" socks!
