This week at school was Celebrate Education week when parents are welcomed into the classroom to get an idea of what their child's everyday life is like... it was a success! (Although, I can relax a little now that it's over :)
I've recently started a new grammar program - Jeff Anderson's Mechanically Inclined. I LOVE it! I am in the process of creating PowerPoints to guide instruction and have been selling them on my TPT store. So far, I only have Lesson 1 on Fragments posted. I will add my others as I try to find the free time! Let me know if you've used this program and what your thoughts are on it. I love that Jeff recommends teaching grammar through exploration and mentor sentences rather than correcting/editing incorrect sentences. Why teach students the wrong way?... Let's just teach the correct way!
Honestly, I don't know how all of you teachers out there with kids at home do it... it's just my husband, my cats, and myself and I can barely stay afloat! Cheers to October! :)
You might also like Sentence Writing Strategis. It is the best grammar program I have ever used. I think it is similar to what you mention above, but it gives kids formulas for building the 4 sentence types. Check out the basics at http://the-room-mom.com/grammar-strategies/. Caitlin
